Chloe & Mikey - March 2020

Tell us how you met…
Mikey and I went to the same school and new of each other, Mikey asked me on a date when we were 20 and we’ve been together ever since. We got engaged 3 years later and married a year and a half after that. The rest is history!

Tell us all about your wedding! What colour scheme, theme and flowers did you choose?
Blackhorse Orchard Marquee was the second venue we visited and new it was the one straight away. Our bridesmaids wore sage green dresses with burnt orange flowers, we also had burnt orange ties for the groom and groomsmen and orange flowers in the bridal bouquet and on the tables. Mother of the bride made all of the centrepieces.

Tell us about the dress… What style was it? Where was it from? What did your bridesmaids wear?
I saw my dress online first and went into the Wed2Be shop it was the first one I tried on and new it was the one but I tried on several more just to be sure. It fit like a glove and only needed alterations done on the length. The style of my dress was fitted with a lace body and lace bottom, I also had a cathedral vale which met the length of the train of the dress which I loved! My bridesmaids wore sage green dipped hem floaty dresses with embellished top half and high necks, they carried burnt orange flowers which matched the bridal bouquet.

Any funny stories from the wedding?
Mikey stumbled on his words a little during the vows, the word matrimony didn’t quite come out right due to the nerves, which had our guests laughing, the registrar also called him by the wrong name ‘Michael’ which our guests found quite funny because everyone knows how much Mikey hates when people make that mistake. However little quirks like this all added to the day so we didn’t mind.

What was your highlight of the day?
The whole day was incredible from start to finish but our highlight was doing our vows because that’s what the day was really about, standing up in front of all our friends and family and becoming husband and wife.

Tell us about your entertainment…
I love soul music so we hired the band Soul Street who performed some of my favourite songs. They really helped set the vibe for the night time and all of our friends and family were up dancing all night long!

What wedding menu did you choose?
We had Vegetable soup to start, Beef dinner with all the trimmings for main and Sticky Toffee pudding with custard for dessert. All of which was delicious and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the food.

Tell us about your wedding photos… which one was your favourite and why?
All of our photos are beautiful, our photographer Lee really captured special intimate moments of our big day. Our favourite one is the two of us walking towards the camera with the sun shining and the fields and blue sky in the background.

What made you choose Black Horse Beamish? Would you recommend the venue to future brides?
We chose Blackhorse Beamish because we loved the view of the fields and we have eaten at the Blackhorse several times and always enjoyed the food. Once we saw the rooms that ourselves and the guests would be staying at, we thought it was so luxurious and knew we wanted to be married there. We have also always loved the idea of getting married in a marquee.

Advice for other brides and grooms?
The day fly's by so try to remember to take it all in, all the months of planning and stress will pay off so enjoy it! It really is the happiest day!
