Tell us how you met…
We met in Newcastle and did a free museum’s of newcastle date, so we visited the Hancock museum, Discovery museum, Baltic and then stopped at the Settle Down Cafe for a coffee and a slice of cake, it has been the only time that i have ever seen Jason too nervous to eat.

Tell us all about your wedding! What colour scheme, theme and flowers
did you choose?
We wanted to keep the colours really warm, Autumn is our favourite
season and with the wedding being mid September and the leaves are just
starting to get that reddish hue to them we really wanted to bring that into the wedding as we’re both outdoorsy people. We chose the flowers as we knew about the lavender fields and a thought the touch of lilac in the flowers would really tie in with the venue.

Tell us about the dress… What style was it? Where was it from? What
did your bridesmaids wear?
I really wanted to find a bohemian style dress and after trying multiple different dresses in Newcastle it was just by chance that I sent Wedding Wardrobe a message asking for an appointment. As soon as i tried that dress on it was game over, it just made me feel amazing. I also ordered my bridesmaids dresses from Wedding Wardrobe as all my bridesmaids are so different from each other, one being 6 foot 3 to another being barely over 5 feet tall. We were all so well looked after by the staff.
 

Any funny stories from the wedding?
When we were waiting to be seated jason suddenly noticed that they had left his spotify account on play and the song that was currently playing before we entered the room was Rage Against The Machine although the guests that noticed thought it was endlessly funny, jason quickly changed the playlist to something a little more calmer.

What was your highlight of the day?
From start to finish the day was perfect and we will forever be thankful to
everyone at the Black Horse for making the day perfect.

Tell us about your entertainment…
DJ Mark Young, he was absolutely great, he contacted me a week before the wedding to get an idea of the type of music we liked and then created a playlist for us, he was also more than happy for recommendations which my maid of honour took full advantage of and by the end of the night he actually made the comment that he has never worked a wedding where children of the night is so frequently requested.

What wedding menu did you choose?
We choose the informal BBQ menu, who doesn’t enjoy a BBQ?

Tell us about your wedding photos… which one was your favourite and
why?
The Black Horse really does offer so many beautiful photo opportunities, from the rustic setting of The George Ridley room to the lavender fields and then to Beamish woods just down the road, it is impossible for us to pick a favourite.

What made you choose Black Horse Beamish? Would you recommend
the venue to future brides?
We actually attended the wedding open day in the marquee, it wasn’t for us and just as we were leaving Lisa told us that they also hold weddings in The George Ridley room within the Black Horse, even though the room wasn’t dressed up for a showcase as soon as we saw the room we fell in love and knew it was our venue. It ticked all the boxes for us, it was a rustic setting, it was perfect in terms of size and the staff were all really friendly and welcoming.

Advice for other brides and grooms?
Don’t rush, we took two years to plan our wedding and we’re so glad we did, it meant that we could take our time and really enjoy the whole process.
